Researchers at CRDM are provided with an all-inclusive research facility (with 4 wings) having spacious, secure, and conducive environment, as well as the necessary infrastructure and instruments, under one unit.
Zebrafish Facility
CRDM houses a state of the art zebrafish lab facility with optimal conditions maintained and monitored round the clock such as humidity, temperature, photo-period, automated re-circulatory systems, RO water plant, inverted microscope with digital display screen (Zeiss).
This new facility houses the rare disease based transgenic lines. The facility provides training in zebrafish model system to not only to research scholars and researchers hired under extra-mural funded research projects but also to intern students who gain hands on experience using zebrafish as a model organism.
As a repository to various rare diseases transgenic zebrafish lines and cell lines, CRDM provides zebrafish and its embryos and cell lines to other researchers to support their research.
Apart from this facility, CIMPS at DRILS houses a separate zebrafish facility with only wild type fish strains, for pharm/tox and screening studies.
Molecular Biology Lab
Supports the research activities of cell culture and zebrafish facility and houses equipment required for all molecular biology based experimentation under one roof.
All the advanced instrumentation such as nanopore sequencer, Cytiva protein purification system, microscopes, western blot, qPCR, freezers, etc., is housed in this unit.
Imaging and Sorting Facility
This facility houses high-end and high throughput imaging and cytometry instruments. Both BD-FACS and MD-Image Express Nano are not only utilized by the DRILS researchers, but we also welcome outside institute researchers for their cell analysis, sorting, and imaging requirements as per availability.
Cell Culture Facility (BSL1 & BSL2)
The facility is well equipped with laminar flow hoods (customized for both BSL1 and BSL2), CO2 incubators, microscopes, freezers, and cryopreservation containers.
